DriverGuide s installer software Windows only simplifies the driver installation process. It safely downloads and verifies your driver and then assists in the.

During a Windows XP update, something happened and I got BSOD.  After that, one of my programs said I needed Sonic Focus drivers etc.  I have traced that to Intel Audio Studio, which will not executesame messageneed Sonic Focus drivers.

I have checked the Intel driver update for my board D975XBX and located the update that also re-intalls Audio Studio

Audio: IDT 92XX Driver5790.3v225/22/2008.   The release notes say that

2. Intel Audio Studio does not support over-install or repair features. When update Intel Audio Studio, you must first uninstall the current driver before installing the new version.

Well, I don t think the driver is there anymore since I get this message that I need to install the driver, but I am not sure.  Further checking of the Intel site to find where the driver might be didn t really help e.g. device manger -- audio -- a bunch of codec stuff none of which is sonic focus and all of which is supposedly working properly.

So, can I install this new driver.  Do I need to unistall Audio Studio first.

TIA.

Reading this thread posted on December 15th and a long string of identical posts following. OMG. Not one response from anyone with an answer.

Not even a response validating the problem.

I am done with this. What good is a media system with no sound.

I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall

The installation program reports failure, then I reboot and it reports success the only difference being that the little dialog insists that it should be working fine in the meantime my speakers are simply paperweights.

I have struggled for the past 6 days to make this system work.

I have looked for resolution in countless web searches and found disapointment even on Intel s own website.

It is a D975XBX2 and it seems that Intel has yet to address this continuing problem.

There is only one resolution to a manufacturer who isn t responsive or accountable.

I m taking this steaming pile of junk back to the store and getting an AMD Phenom system.

If they refuse to take it back, then I ll be breaking out the attention getter and charging it back on my CC.

If Intel finds itself having to explain to enough vendors that in spite of the fact their junk doesn t actually work

that the vendor should be grateful for the wonderfullness that is Intel then perhaps they will eventually discover the meaning of Customer Care.

Then I m setting up Linux and using my XP64 disk for a freakin coffee coaster.

At least if it has problems after that they won t come at a premium price for being ignored.

After the XP CODEC update I get a Sonic Focus error box on every reboot, but the sound system seems to be working perfectly. If this corresponds to your problem, and you haven t uninstalled anything important, here is a quick way to get rid of the annoying message:

Hit START - RUN, and type   msconfig   in the command box. Get the System Configuration Untility window.

Click on Startup.

Find IntelAudioStudio in the Startup Item list.

Clear the box.

While you are are it, you may find about a dozen other utilities that you never use as well. Clearing them will speed up your reboot, but be careful not to turn off anything crucial. If in doubt, either leave it checked, of try one at a time.

This should eliminate the error box. Presumably, it won t help if you actually need to use the Audio Studio. Some input from Intel would be useful here..

Wooohoooo. I had SUCCESS.

I was experiencing the same problem that Steve, the originator of this thread,

and most of you were having. Everytime my computer started up a pop-up box

with Intel Audio Studio Controller would state Sonic Focus drivers must be loaded

for application to work.

I googled Sonic Focus Drivers and came up with the message by Steveand

all the rest of your postings.  I followed what KG instructed: in Add/Remove confirm

Sigmatel/IDTaudio driver and Sonic Focus components are removed.   I only found

Sigmatel/IDTaudio driver on the list so I removed that one.  I think went to the 2 links

that KG posted but they didn t work for me.  It s possible that my Ad-Blocker on

Firefox prevented me from accessing those sites for security reason.

I decided to reboot my computer.  TO MY SURPRISEwhen I booted back up

there was a Windows Wizard pop-up looking for that missing driver.  And within

30 seconds it found it and installed it. OMGI m so happy. LOL  I hope this

helps you too.

For some time now I have been suffering the same sonic focus driver message mentioned above, together with effectivley no sound worth listening to from my 5:1 surround sound, which at best was only capable of delivering a loud and unbearable hissing from at least one of its speakers.

I eventually decided that it was time for action and so started searching possible reasons etc.  Having already searched for a sonic focus driver within device manager and found nothing I thought it time to consider starting from ground zero and conducted a search on Intels site for possible updates relating to my mother board.

I was deligghted to find the Audio IDT 92xx driver with a brief description.   Could this be the answer i saught.

Following further instruction from Intels site I needed to identify my motherboard in order to request the appropriate download.  By performing a restart and entering BIOS settings via F2 key, I was quickly able to id my motherboard and on returning to Intels site  was able to identify the apropriate driver /update I bit the bullet and by ignoring all of the usual warnings associated with such downloads It apeared that I may have found the solution.

I am delighted to report that as I sit here typing this reply I am enjoying my favourite music once again in glorious 5:1 surround sound.

My question in responce has to be why and end user with only a modest understanding of advanced settings should have to delve in to such issues in order to once again enjoy my ligimitaley purchased plug ins, which if i am not mistaken became un-usable following an automated update.
